1904
Tom Tetsusaboro Uyeda leaves Japan for the U.S. to pursue professional baseball, later building a career in hospitality rooted in Omotenashi—wholehearted Japanese service and hospitality.
1922
Vivian Uyeda is born. Raised in St. Louis clubs managed by her father, she develops a deep appreciation for hospitality and food from an early age.
1946
Tom Uyeda, Vivian’s father and General Manager of The Bogey Club, tasks his daughter with creating a new ‘house’ dressing for the club. Her Romano cheese dressing quickly becomes the talk of the town.
1948
After incessant demands to bottle the dressing, Vivian finally cedes to her guests’ requests. Straub’s, the neighborhood grocer and our first customer, purchases the inaugural batch, blended and bottled in Vivian’s home kitchen. Straub’s remains a legendary establishment and partner to this date.
1950
At her father’s request, Vivian creates the now-iconic Romano Cheese Dressing recipe for The Bogey Club and The Frontier Room.
1968
After the passing of her father and husband, Al Tucker, Vivian pauses commercial production but preserves the family recipe for future generations.
1992
Vivian’s eldest son, Tom Tucker, revives the dressing in St. Louis. Straub’s receives the first batch in nearly 25 years.
2012
Tom Tucker passes the business to Vivian’s youngest son, Buddy Reisinger, who continues the family tradition alongside his wife Jeana and their children Lily, Bear, and Lizzy.
2025
After working in Los Angeles at Anheuser Busch and New York at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, grandson Bear Reisinger moves back to St. Louis and becomes the third generation to officially join the team. Granddaughters Lily and Lizzy Reisinger continue to inspire new fans and family with delicious, health-conscious recipes.
